Stained Glass, Copper Foil with Kate Doig (5 weeks) Thursday

This course introduces students to one method of stained glass, that of copper foiling. Students will learn how to follow a design, cut glass accurately and safely, apply copper foil and solder their creation to produce a beautiful piece they can hang.

Those with experience can design their own creation or create something 3D if they wish. (Please note that lampshades are not an option)

Suitable for beginners and intermediates.

Wk 1 Introduction, safety, tools, background to copper foiling technique, producing a design

Wk 2 Choosing or making your design. Choosing colours of glass.

Wk 3 Cutting glass, grinding, applying copper foil.

Wk 4 Cutting glass, grinding, applying copper foil.

Wk 5 Soldering and finishing
